Your Fuzz is in the wrong place- should go before OD and Tube OD, so that you can EQ your fuzz with the drives. I may part with the Ts-808 (to fund an xotic EP booster ) as I was cascading them.and I like the boost function of the FDĪfter the Fulldrive IMO. T-U2 + Wah + Ts-808 + TD + FD2 + Fuzz + amp. My question is this: where in the signal chain do you TD owners place it? Maybe I should reverse and have my FD2 in front of the TD? Here is a list of my effects in front of the amp (in no particular order, not counting the ones in the loop): I did, however, find that it sounded very strange going into my FD2. I almost could not get a bad sound out of it! I usually get caught up in hype and end up disappointed with things like this but (other than the surprise COD duty charges on delivery - ouch - better hide THAT from the wife) for once I am impressed. Rich, crunchy but smooth, HUGE - there are countless words to describe the sound. This thing just flat out rocks! It is a tad agressive in terms of gain so I will be trying it with a 12au7 at some point, but into the clean channel of my Stiletto I was Andy Timmons for about 10 minutes last night. I was envisioning changing tubes constantly and tweaking this and that - jumping on a plane to Florida to have stratpaulguy set it up for me (weekly) but alas - this is not the case. (My apologies Joe B for using your forum as a place to review a pedal but it IS your tone I (we?) are all chasing ).After reading countless reviews I was expecting a pedal that is tricky to "get right" and something difficult to set up properly. Well I played it last night for the first time and WHOAH!!! Awesome - I am blown away. The treble pot's range definitely isn't narrow. Thanks for the replies and input guys.
I used the EffectsLayouts board as a guide but haven't built that one to compare. The bass pot doesn't seem to have as significant an effect as I expect - I haven't spotted an error in the tone-stack but there might be one.
I'd like to try a 12AU7 in it but all I have laying around are 12AX7s. I haven't noticed the box getting warm, but I haven't had it on for more than an hour or two. It consumes about 150mA 12V, but at startup draws >350mA for some seconds as it warms up. It uses an LT1054 like EffectsLayouts design. Board-mounting the bass and treble pots instead is probably the way to go. It could use some improvement - the board isn't well supported so dropping the pedal could break the tube. Here's the layout file if you want to play with it. Poor planning, needs more work, but since the build runs I just jammed in a box up-side-down instead.
The original plan was to board-mount the level and gain pots with the tube facing down and the DC jack above it, but I tried and it didn't fit.

The top-side has 3 jumpers, plus one on the daughter board. That is to say, a double-sided board isn't necessary, it's just for mechanical strength. I made a double-sided board so I could effectively solder wires and the daughter-board underneath, but of course there are no vias, so they still needed to be soldered to the underside. I wanted to see if I could squeeze it in to a 125B, so I made a layout using ExpressPCB Plus and etched the board. Well, if you don't mind a 1590BB there's this.
